Intelligent 3D Model Development for Ammonia Production Plant

MECIP was engaged to provide Intelligent 3D Model Development services for a major petrochemical facility in Malaysia, utilizing advanced SmartPlant® 3D software and laser scan data to create an accurate and information-rich digital representation of the plant.

The project involved transforming laser scan outputs into a fully integrated intelligent 3D model, providing a reliable digital asset that supports engineering, operations, maintenance, modification projects, and future plant expansions. The model serves as a centralized source of engineering information, enabling improved visualization, design validation, and decision-making throughout the asset lifecycle.

In addition to 3D model development, MECIP generated piping General Arrangement (GA) drawings, isometric drawings, and engineering documentation directly from the intelligent model. Comprehensive model reviews and clash detection workshops were conducted to identify potential design conflicts, improve constructability, and minimize project risks before implementation.

The completed digital model and associated deliverables were managed and uploaded into the client’s Electronic Data Management System (EDMS), ensuring secure information governance, efficient document control, and long-term accessibility of engineering data.

This project demonstrates MECIP’s expertise in digital engineering, intelligent modelling, and asset information management, helping clients improve operational efficiency, reduce project execution risks, and establish a robust digital foundation for future asset management initiatives.
